Mahatma Gandhi Labour Institute (MGLI), Ahmedabad, established by the Government of Gujarat has announced admissions for various career oriented courses viz. Master of social work(MSW), Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management(PGDHRM), Diploma in Strategic Human Resource Management(DSHRM) and Diploma in Labour Laws and Practice(DLLP). The institute which is situated on a prime location at Drive-in Road, Memnager, Ahmedabad, aims at carrying out Training, Research and Education in labour and related subjects. It works closely with Department of Labour and Employment, Government of Gujarat, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India, International Labour Organization(ILO), UNICEF and other related Government Departments.
The institute has announced that admission forms will be accepted till 31st July for the following courses currently offered by the institute:
Master of Social Work programme (MSW), a two-year full time course, is an English medium course affiliated to Gujarat University. Apart from regular teaching classes, the programme includes intensive field work, block placement, tribal camp, orientation and exposure visits, guest lectures, project work, etc. The applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent (under the 10+2+ 3 year) in any discipline with minimum 50% (General Category) and 45% (for Reserved Category) marks from a recognized university, the Institute said.
The PG Diploma in Human Resource Management (PGDHRM) is a full-time course aimed at creating competent HR professionals. It provides a broad introduction to contemporary HRM theory and practice, and its relevance to other management activities. The one-year Course is being offered at MGLI since the year 2000, and more than 1,000 students have successfully completed it so far. Eligible applicants are required to have a Bachelor’s degree with minimum 45% marks from a recognized university.
Diploma in Strategic Human Resource Management (DSHRM) is a one-year part-time course aimed at developing understanding of ways in which human resources can generate and sustain competitive advantages, and processes in HR management. The applicants are required to have a Bachelor’s degree in any subject, or a Diploma course with three years’ experience in relevant subject.
Diploma in Labour Laws and Practice (DLLP) is a one-year part-time course to equip professionals from the fields of management, human resources, social work, and law, with skills and knowledge needed to tackle day-to-day issues of labour, and to make them well-versed with knowledge of technical labour laws.Students of management, law, social work, commerce and HR, who want to shape their career in the field of labour practice, officers of government departments promoting labour policies and programmes, practitioners of development sector dealing with labour for their betterment, and working executives dealing with labour issues are eligible to apply for the course, MGLI added.
